Black & White
This one is from last year. He had a hard time climbing the steps but seemed very patient and was actually busy too, shoelaces needed attention, cigaret to be lit too. The climb took a long time but apparently he had all the time in the world. I don't do much converting from colour to black & white, but I always thought this one would turn out ok in b&w, just never got around to it, until now that is.
Just finished: 'Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann' (Jonas Jonasson) The present time story is often funny and I did enjoy it, but the stories from the past ..simply too much. As so many people enjoy to listen to their own voices, he is one of many writers that enjoy seeing words, many words, come on the screen/paper. Less would most definitely be more. 'The Children's Book' (A.S. Byatt) Stunned. Byatt is without doubt one of the world's finest writers. 'Igelkottens elegans (Swedish translation of L´élégance du hérisson' (Muriel Barbery) I don´t mention all my "reads" here, but I should have mentioned this one last year. Fascinating characters in surroundings I gather are disappearing. The "too many words" writers could learn a lot from Barbery. I repeat, less is more. Sekwa, a Swedish publisher of french books, impresses me. Good work.
Reading now: 'Grand Final i Skojarbranchen' (Kerstin Ekman) Kerstin Ekman seems to have done it again. I am enjoying this book tremendously and reading very slowly. But I can say this, many writers and critics should consider reading this book, and read it twice.'De svarta tangenternas planet' (Niklas Rådström) I loved 'Drivved från Arkadien' and this one is at least as good. 'A Place of Execution' (Val McDermid) She can do so much better. I really don't like it when I can figure the plot almost at once. I hope to be wrong. But I am bored.
